Swords History - 8th Century AD

Saif Sword - Saif was an Arabic sword or a broad-bladed curved sabre. The word “Saif” means in Arabic “sword”. The first Arabic swords were straight, short and had a double-edged blade. Such a straight sword is featured on the national flag of Saudi Arabia. The curved swords came in later, with the Turkish migration from Central Asia. This type of curved sabre influenced the entire Arabic region.
